As touch typing requires a lot of concentration and persistence in learning where the keys are on the keyboard. If a student has poor or weak concentration, then it will take them a lot longer to learn how to touch type. I find the 55g to be perfect, but on average most people probably prefer the 45g uniform overall, and also the variable (at least for typing with the variable). You would probably do well with a uniform weighted Topre with your weighted preference of 45g or 55g. That is especially true with stiffer keys. As an above poster said your pinkies are the weakest, and can slow you down. A big reason why that is the case for me is because I don't use my pinkies. I am using a Topre which is 55g, and the variable which I have I find to be a little on the light side. Which typist is faster?
